Slow Cooker Turkey Sloppy Joes

This Slow Cooker Turkey Sloppy Joes recipe is a healthier twist on the classic sloppy joe sandwich. It's made with lean ground turkey and packed with flavor from a homemade sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Hamburger buns, for serving

Instructions:

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks

Drain excess fat and transfer the cooked turkey to the slow cooker

Add diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the slow cooker with the turkey

In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper

Pour this mixture over the turkey and vegetables in the slow cooker

Stir to combine

Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until flavors are melded and vegetables are tender

Serve the turkey sloppy joe mixture on hamburger buns
